       I hope you all are having a great Ramadan! I like Ramadan because I enjoy going to Iftar and participating in Salat-At-Taraweeh. I like Iftar the best, because I get to spend some time with my family and friends. I also get to play with my friends before eating Iftar and I get to make lot's of du'a.

Ramadan Challenge - Elementary group

Assalamu'alaikum Everyone,
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           

     I hope you had a good spring break! I too had a good spring break playing board games, watching movies, and of course, volunteering for ZF.

   Last Friday on the 19th of April, the Elementary group sold cookies, cupcakes along with Ramadan cards made by Ansar, at Apex Masjid. We also got many kind donations. In total we raised more than 500 dollars!

Next week's meeting on April 28, we are planning to sell bookmarks and other goodies too! Help us raise more funds for the orphans.

My name is Fatima Bari, I'm 10 years old and the reason why I joined the 99 Orphan's team, is because I want to help orphans around the world. This year, I'm part of the Zakaat foundation that helps raise money for orphans.

Ramadan Challenge

Assalamu'alaikum,
We are now in the month of Sha'baan now, and Ramadan, the month of fasting and mercy, is fast approaching. The Prophet (PBUH) used to increase his good deeds and fasting during Sha'baan to prepare for Ramadan. He said "It is a month in which good deeds are taken up to the Lord of the worlds, and I would like my deeds to be taken up while I am fasting." The ZF youth are also gearing up for Ramadan by initiating the Ramadan Challenge. We, the middle school boys, are planning to host a Game Night featuring board games like Chess and Chutes and Ladders, as well as some video games. Good luck to all the groups participating in the Ramadan Challenge to raise funds for the 99 Orphans program!

Ramadan: the Month of Blessings

Ramadan is the month of blessing and has so much good attached to it. Not only do we fast to cleanse our bodies but we fast to cleanse our souls, minds, and hearts. Fasting means to stay away from food, liquids, sins, and negativity. But Ramadan isn't all about 30 days of fasting, or the countless attempts at memorizing quran, or staying up late to make tahajud. Although those are very important, Ramadan should be more about making ourselves better people and learning self-discipline. Ramadan isn't a pause on our bad habits but an end to them. Another goal we should have is to get closer to Allah. In the Quran it says, “So remember me; I will remember you.” (Baqarah:152). This is one of the unbreakable promise Allah makes.  

Ramadan Challenge

Assalamualaikum. We have started a Ramadan challenge again this year. The Ramadan challenge is where all different ages and groups compete in a friendly competition to see who can raise the most money at the end of Ramadan. We have to brainstorm ideas to raise money the most creative way. Last year, my group (middle school girls) sold a bunch of fun stuff such as slime, squishies, and much more. Everyone enjoyed it and we raised a lot of money! We also asked our family members to donate to our team. Alhamdulliah, last year the middle school girls won. We raised around $9,000 last year and we hope to raise a lot this year, as well. Last meeting we came up with an idea to sell different types of cupcakes for the next meeting. We all had different roles and it was very fun brainstorming ways we can make our cupcakes. We will be selling them at out meeting, which is today. The flavors are: coffee cupcake, birthday cupcake, chocolate + Oreo cupcake, and marble swirl cupcake. Please come to our meeting today to support our team, Sparkles of Light. Assalamualaikum.
