Zakat Foundation Annual Iftar for Orphans

Assalamualykum,

My name is Zaina Taha. Yesterday on June 14th, 2017, the Zakat Foundation held an iftar at the Apex mosque for the Orphans. We had activities like henna, calligraphy, Eid cards, and much more. Each table had a donation box and people could donate if they liked. The money was not going to the people who were hosting the activities, but instead going to orphans. After the activities were over, we had iftar. I was thinking, while we were eating, that the food tasted so good, but other people in poverty stricken areas could not taste the same yummy food we had. That is why we should donate,so they too can have shelter, education, good food, and much more. May Allah swt reward those who donate IMMENSELY!!!!!!☺

JazakhAllah Khair.

Hello, my name is Zahi Shaikh. I, right now, am not hungry (even though I’m fasting), not depressed, or hurt. The 99 orphans team is trying to raise money for 99 orphans. We already have raised money for good number of orphans as of 6/11/17. On the 14th of June we will have a fundraising for these unprivileged children. This event will be held at Apex mosque. We are also making cards too! Remember to donate for the orphans. Share all this information with all your friends. Remember donating just a penny will make a difference. Thank you for reading this.

Orphans

Assalamualaikum!

Today I am fasting and I am really hungry, and it makes me think about orphans and how they hardly have any food everyday. It is hard to go through many hours without eating or drinking anything, but at least I know that I can have a delicious meal at the end of the day.

Right now I am sitting down in my house away from rain, and lots of unsafe stuff. Lots of orphans don't have a home to live in. Also, my parents keep me safe and cook food for me, and I am really grateful to have them and I think about how orphans don't have any parents to take care of them.

I am hoping we can raise some money for the orphans this Ramadan and on June 14th if you are free, please come and support our orphans at the Apex Masjid.

Assalamoalaikum,
On May 21st, 2017 we had our third 99 Orphans meeting. We discussed the upcoming Ramadan fundraiser for our project. Our team is busy planning a fun iftar with lots of cool activities and we’re hoping for a great turnout! Let me give you an inside scoop on some our plans:

We hope to have an exciting Ramadan jeopardy challenge, so sharpen your Islamic knowledge and make sure to participate in this fun game! We’re also planning on having different activities like arts and crafts, henna, cupcake decorations, and tons more.

Your presence will help us raise enough money to sponsor our remaining 84 orphans, who are waiting for your generous support and contribution.

May Allah reward you for your role in helping us achieve our goal .
JazakAllah

Assalamualaikum,
On May 5th, 2017, we had a foster parent information session at the Four Point Sheraton. Nikki Lyons and Tanya Askew from Wake County Human Services came and talked to us about the process of fostering children. We did not have a lot of people join us for this event but A LOT of questions! At the beginning, two youth members opened the event. Later, Batul Fatima recited a meaningful hadith for us, " It is a beloved deed to take care of an orphan."
Nikki Lyons was inspired by the hadith and recorded it for future sessions. During the session, there was a slideshow stating the procedures and guidelines for becoming foster parents. A few  really important questions I heard there was, "Do we get to decide for ourselves if we can get a muslim foster child instead of any other one? If I get a foster child that is not a muslim, am I required to take them to their church, temple, or synagogue?" All of those interesting questions had VERY interesting answers! Inshallah, you will get certified within the next four to six months to become the loving parent every child needs! Jazakallahu khair,
Zeba Hussaini

Foster kid socks

Today we got sock for the foster kids! I am excited to give it to them because I know how it feels to have sweaty and hurt feet when I don't wear socks. Socks are important because it keeps your feet's skin safe from blisters and injuries. Also, when you don't wear socks, your feet get hot and sweaty. Socks also keep your feet warm. We are collecting lots of more items such as: onesies, bibs, pajamas, under garments, and more. Please help us collect these essentials for the foster kids!
These are the socks we got for the foster children!
